FT Energy: Powering Ireland’s Renewable Future

Story Highlights
  • “Considering solar as an investment, the return is great.”

Founded by Michael, an industry veteran with over 25 years of electrical expertise, FT Energy has rapidly emerged as a prominent name in Ireland’s renewable energy landscape. Inspired by the effective renewable systems he worked on abroad, Michael launched FT Energy almost two years ago, with a commitment to make high-quality solar solutions accessible to Irish homes and businesses. The company stands out for its customer-centric approach, offering friendly service, meticulous workmanship, and a strong focus on aftercare.

FT Energy’s primary service is solar installation, which serves both domestic and commercial clients, including major projects like the installation underway at Midland Steel in Portlaoise. Michael explains the benefits: SEAI grants of up to €2,100 for domestic projects, reduced electricity bills, increased property value, and all with minimal maintenance. From a financial perspective, Michael highlights the investment potential, explaining a typical system can cost €6,000-€10,000 depending on system size, and that the average payback period would be five to six years, with all savings after that being profit for the customer. Batteries are not necessary, but can be added to the system to enhance savings. Of course, each project is different, and FT Energy always tailors systems to people’s needs and advises on the right tariff.

The environmental benefits are equally appealing, as solar helps reduce carbon footprints, contributing to a more sustainable future. Michael’s dedication to renewable energy is evident when he says, “It’s not just a job for me, I have a passion for this. I eat, sleep, and breathe solar.”

Looking to the future, FT Energy has plans to expand beyond solar installations. Recognising the demand for efficient energy solutions in modern, well-insulated homes, the company is exploring air-conditioning systems that offer both heating and cooling functions. “We’re looking at expanding into air-conditioning as well,” Michael notes. “I believe that’s the way of tomorrow for new domestic super-insulated houses.” This vision aligns with FT Energy’s broader mission as an energy solutions company, not limited to solar but also equipped to handle future demands in sustainable building energy needs.

With a team of eight dedicated professionals, FT Energy is committed to delivering reliable and personable service, where customers can feel confident they are partnering with a company that truly values quality, expertise, and environmental responsibility.
