Nigel Daly founded NMD Electrical in 1983 over forty years ago. Now, the company is a national leader in its industry. What began as an Electrical Contracting Company has grown into a more specialised business that installs, services, maintains, and repairs Electric Vehicle Charging Stations, and has more recently added Solar/PV Installations to its list of quality services.

In July 2010 when an opportunity involving ESB e-cars arose, Nigel personally installed Ireland’s First EV Charge Point in a residential environment. “We embraced this opportunity, and ever since, we have been installing EV Charging Stations every day. Since becoming the preferred supplier to ESB e-cars we have installed almost 20,000 units throughout the country.”

NMD never employs subcontractors to carry out electrical work and all of the team are fully qualified, directly employed, dedicated professionals. The work is directly supervised, ensuring everything is to the highest possible standard. Unlike other companies that may sell you on a project, and then offload the work to a subcontractor, NMD guarantees a professional from within the company will carry out the installation themselves, ensuring quality service every time. NMD has a track record for maintaining this high standard, even while operating over the entire country.

The company currently specialises in two areas: installing EV Charge Points, and in Solar PV Installation work. As with the EV Charging branch of the business, the Solar/PV Installation work is done by a team of in-house professionals. NMD are registered as Solar/PV Installers with SEAl, whereby the power generated by daylight can be directed to installed batteries and in turn charge cars, making it cost effective and energy efficient.

A more recent venture for NMD has been the installation of the first ChargeArm in Ireland. This is a new, Dutch-designed EV Charging alternative. It allows users without dedicated off-street parking to have a home charging point for their electric vehicle. Until now, this has been an unsolved issue, but NMD is proving their status as a market innovator by providing this solution.

Additionally, the company has partnered with Wattif EV, a Norwegian company whose mission is to make EV charging a viable option for achieving net zero. This involves focusing on destination charging, and NMD and Wattif EV’s collaboration will be crucial to attaining these objectives in Ireland.
