There is a huge trend for statement stone

Story Highlights
  • There is so much stone out there so really it is up to us to find them a stone that they love.
  • "It can be good to do your stone research as early as possible as it will give the homeowner better design inspiration."

At Ennis Marble & Granite, the team supply and install stone surfaces for private and trade customers across Ireland. They also offer a nationwide templating and fitting service. Having opened their doors in 2002, this company are proud to say they have vast experience and excellent knowledge in handling stone surfaces.

“We started off working with natural stone as everyone was installing granite worktops, more recently people moved to man-made stone. We are hearing from our customers that they want the look of natural stone but they don’t want the upkeep so in terms of us, porcelain is the answer to that as it has the lovely look of a natural stone but without the upkeep,” explained Laura.

“There is a huge trend for statement stone at the moment and whether its man-made or natural stone clients are utilising stone all over the home in bathrooms, fireplaces and even wall cladding; statement stone is becoming a huge feature in home design and we love seeing the stone being showcased. It is a pleasure to be working on such fabulous designs!

“When a customer visits the showroom, the exciting part for us is to go through the design with the homeowner as everyone has their own ideas and it is very much about choosing a style that suits the individual as well as finding a stone that will work in their home. There is so much stone out there so really it is up to us to find them a stone that they love,” she enthused.

When it comes to advice Laura would offer customers in advance of installing stone in their home?
“Planning the stone around the build can be helpful in order for the customer to achieve the look they have in mind. It can be good to do your stone research as early as possible as when a customer falls in love with a stone, especially a natural stone, they often plan their design around the slab size. It definitely gives the homeowner better design inspiration.”

As to future plans for Ennis Marble & Granite?
“We are a small team that are focused on design and already this year we have spent a lot of a lot of time up-skilling in working with thinner stone which opens up a lot more possibilities for designing furniture, fireplaces and stone for around the home in general. Over the coming months, I feel like we’re going to be having a lot more fun playing with different design ideas as well as installing beautiful stone in our customers homes, we love nothing than to see a happy customer with beautiful stone at the end of the process,” added Laura.
