F[/dropcap]eature Wall Specialists is a unique company that specialises in feature walls. With more than 25 year’s experience in new and old residential properties, their expertise is second to none.

“Feature walls transform living rooms and the media walls are very much a new addition to people’s homes. We specialise in a plaster finish with wood and I think it gives a lovely finish as well as a different look. This company when I started it as a hobby as I never looked at it as a business.

My Uncle and I had an external wall insulation company and he unfortunately got cancer and passed away a few years ago but it was his idea to set up the feature wall business as he saw it as something that I got build on. I feel gifted to have this company,” explained Andy Farrell.

“We work on houses that could be built for more than 50 years right through to timber frame houses.

A lot of the new builds are set up for feature walls and they are designed a little bit different in that they have flatter walls which allows for any design to be done.

We have a lot of following and we have a strong word of mouth referral; we are limited in what we can do when we visit a house that has a solid chimney breast because you are building around it and trying to hide the chimney breast. In the last six months, we’re getting a lot of calls from people who are buying new builds or working on a renovation project.

“Going forward, I want to expand the business. I’m an Electrician and Plasterer by trade and I would have hired in carpenters in the past.

I’ve self trained myself to build the walls and the visions are more from my head rather than from a sketch! We have a workshop in North Dublin and we are after spending a lot of money on machines.

I want to eventually move up to full on building but it is baby steps at the moment! I absolutely love what I do,” concluded Mr Farrell.
