We pride ourselves on our customer service

Aisling Nyhan of Classic Kitchens talks to us

Story Highlights
  • "Down draught hobs have started to pick up speed."
  • "Our process is by no means rushed as it (the kitchen) is too big of a buy to get it wrong!"

Classic Kitchens was established in Carrigaline, County Cork, in 2006 by two local craftsmen John and Karl.

They are both exceptional craftsmen and have been working in the kitchen and fitted furniture industry with more than twenty years.

Classic Kitchens are agents for the German kitchen company Nobilia.

This allows a local Cork company to offer its customers the best of German engineering and design.

The selection of German kitchens, television units, vanity units and more means Classic Kitchens has something to suit every customer.

“We pride ourselves on our customer service as we’re a local company and if any customer is unsure if they would like the kitchen in a contemporary or traditional style, in blue or black we will draw it for them.

We don’t charge for any design consultations or drawings and we really pride ourselves on that as well as it is such an important part of the design package,” explained Aisling Nyhan.

“Buying a kitchen is a big investment and it is important that customers are comfortable with their final decision after having the choice of numerous drawings and design options.

Generally we will either take a copy of a customers’ plans or we will go to the site and measure the kitchen ourselves followed by creating three concept design ideas.

Our process is by no means rushed as it (the kitchen) is too big of a buy to get it wrong!”

When it comes to words of wisdom Aisling would offer when it comes to kitchen design?

“Taking inspiration from pictures is great as a base when it comes to your kitchen but you really have to judge the kitchen from either the plan or the space you’re dealing with.

A lot of renovations or new builds run out of wall space due to a lot of glass, this is usually the space where things like the oven, the larder, the fridge go.

If you are starting with a base and you are working with an Architect or a designer on the renovation or the build, you would need to see the kitchen drawn out before the build starts, as it will let you see what the space will allow for.

“There are so many windows going into the kitchen now which is beautiful but you really do have to think about the layout way before the space is dug out. It is important to be a step ahead to preempt what is coming,”

As to kitchen ‘must haves?

“Down draught hobs have started to pick up speed. A lot of hidden and embedded lighting will set off the kitchen for people. We also not have an electronic drawer for people where they can grow herbs from the comfort of their kitchen, it sets the humidity and lighting in there, the idea behind it is that you can still grow your herbs whether or not you have a garden space,” imparted Aisling Nyhan.
