- The biggest challenge we face is that people still think that a house has to be built out of bricks and mortar
- We would love to be at the forefront of pushing a change to modular housing whilst supplying high end, affordable homes to people
Big Man Tiny Homes was founded by JP Simpson, in 2018.
After working on many different projects around the world and in Ireland, from bespoke cabins to large scale housing projects, JP has come to realise that peoples’ attitudes to homes and their lifestyles are changing.
People now want a lot more freedom in their lives, and don’t want to be tied down to massive debts.
“Modular housing is what is badly needed, to produce houses fast and quick for the housing market to meet the demand that is out there.
The benefit of what we do is that we are one stop shop so we can do the design, the planning and the install whilst reducing stress for the client,” explained Mr Simpson.
“If it is a full modular build, we can arrive on site at six in the morning and the home owner (s) can have their dinner in it that evening!
The house is unbelievably insulated, built to a passive house standard and they are an amazing system.
People perceive that they won’t last as long but we have a 70 year guarantee on our SIP panels and they surpass building codes and regulations.
The biggest challenge we face is that people still think that a house has to be built out of bricks and mortar.
“If the modular house doesn’t suit your requirements, we can do an onsite panellised build, with a 180sqm house being built in as little as four months.
We can build a two or three bedroom modular house in six weeks. It is the planning and designing process that takes the longest amount of time on a project.
“People do have a misconception that modular homes are cheaper than a standard house, but they are actually they are nearer enough the same price. The main reason as to why people should opt to go for a modular home is for speed and the quality of the build alongside the ease of adding additional rooms at later date make it a very attractive solution for people. “We would love to be at the forefront of pushing a change to modular housing whilst supplying high end, affordable homes to people,” concluded JP Simpson.
