This is two story dwelling family house project in County Kilkenny consisting of three bedrooms and two bathrooms with a total area of 160m2. For mass timber super structure shell there was used 41m3 timber, which is preliminary of five years CO2 emission of one family car. In addition, there was used wood fiber insulation and timber cladding which also contributes of CO2 emission.
Solid mass timber walls and ceiling were erected of concrete base, roof constructed from glulam rafters with timber cladding on top.
Insulation used for building is wood fiber of 200mm thickness for walls and for roof – 240mm. On top of it goes weather membrane which protects building from moisture, wind but allows building to breath and ventilate naturally true battened cavity.
For the finish the customer’s choice was Charred Larch cladding from our Larch collection Red Amber color, that will be attached on the Larch battens system.
Mass timber panels are screwed together to the base with self-drilling Italian mechanical stainless steel screw fixings and no glue/adhesive is used for the assembly.
House can be dismantled if there are need or can be easy recycled at the end of lifetime, that way not polluting land for future generations.
All of the building materials used for super structure used are iDomus Wood Only Envelope components, this type of building physics is reaching Passive Standard U values of 0.15.
This is sustainable, efficient, has fast-tract construction method, environmentally friendly during building proceed and for the lifetime of the building. Building super structure took only 5 weeks. The family will have an eco-friendly, warm, healthy building that contributes to sustainable and an eco-minded lifestyle.
