Timbercraft, a family-run business, has been providing fitted kitchens in Ireland for over four decades.

Established in 1979 by Martin O’Connor, the founder and director, Timbercraft owes its success to Martin’s extensive woodworking expertise and life experiences.

With 43 years of industry presence, Timbercraft has built a reputation for delivering quality and functionality in their kitchen designs.

Aine O’Connor announced the recent opening of a new design studio, transitioning from a kitchen studio to a comprehensive design studio.

Located on Baker’s Point in Dun Laoghaire, the studio offers a wide range of services including interior design, living room design, utility room design, boot room design, television unit design, bathroom furniture design, and more.

The expansion reflects the studio’s commitment to providing a diverse range of design solutions to its clients.

“Our product is so malleable to really suit whatever the customer is looking for. All of our projects are custom-made, and we are working towards becoming a one-stop shop.”

As to Aine’s thoughts on what homeowners can expect to see within the kitchen design sector over the coming months?

“Kitchens have become much more than just a kitchen space over the last few years; the design process is becoming more about the connectivity from the kitchen to the dining/ living space as well as ease of use.

It is also becoming more about the kitchen looking more like a piece of furniture rather than a kitchen.

All the main bulk of storage is in the pantry, and you walk through a hidden door to the pantry.

The island is the focal point of the room and we’re trying to encourage installing the hob on the island, more so for a social aspect.

“The prep area and the hob on the island makes the kitchen space more social, especially if you are entertaining for a dinner party. Prep sinks are becoming popular also, with the main sink situated in a separate part of the kitchen. Homeowners are going all out when it comes to work tops and dominant veining is starting to become a very popular look,” she added

In terms of the short-term future for Timbercraft?

“At Timbercraft, we prioritise our commitment to training and up-skilling our team to ensure we excel in our work. We are proud to have a talented team of designers, all of whom have design backgrounds, which we believe contributes significantly to our success.

As someone with a background in Interior Design and Architecture, I am pleased to witness the increasing presence of women in the traditionally male-dominated construction field.

It is a positive development for our industry,” imparted Ms O’Connor.
